New Church Calling

We are daughters of our Heavenly Father, who loves us, and we love Him. We will “stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places” (Mosiah 18:9) as we strive to live the Young Women values, which are: Faith, Divine Nature, Individual Worth, Knowledge, Choice and Accountability, Good Works, Integrity, and Virtue. We believe as we come to accept and act upon these values, we will be prepared to strengthen home and family, make and keep sacred covenants, receive the ordinances of the temple, and enjoy the blessings of exaltation.

Ok, so if you're LDS then you recognize that as the Young Women's logo & Theme, at least I hope you do! I have been called to the Young Women's presidency in our ward, as secretary. I am so excited for this calling! I thought that being ward librarian with Eric was great, it was prefect for us. But Heavenly Father is pushing me out of that!! We'll see how long Eric lasts now!! We must have gotten too comfortable with it! Two of my best friends up here were in the last Presidency, and I know they will help me with anything if I need it, along with the other members of the new Presidency. One of the ladies I visit teach is the President, and she is 85 years old!! But she is perfect for this! Her counselors are two ladies I am so happy to work with too. One's husband is in the Guard, and the other has a little girl the same age as Scotty. So this is a big thing for me. I'm a little nervous, because having been converted to the Church about 5 years ago, I've never been to Young Women's, so I don't really know how everything goes and all that. But I know Heavenly Father puts us where we need to be and where He will use us to help ourselves and others, and am grateful for this!

Our first night without Scotty

Ok, so for our Valentine's Day Eric and I decided we were going to go get a couples massage. So I thought that seeing as how Scotty's going to be 3 years old in 2 weeks maybe we could start getting him used to staying at my Dad & step-mom's every now and again. But I was a little leary about having him stay there, because my Dad is going through radiation and Scotty is, to put it mildly, a handful! So we talked to them about it and they said Sure no problem. My brother Rol was there with his son, Triston who is 5 months older than Scotty, so I think that helped a lot. We dropped him off at their house just before 2:00, when our massage was. After our massage we went around to a few store, just wasting time, and got a couple things for Scotty and went back over to drop them off. Then we left again, and came home and had dinner and a night to ourselves. We played guitar hero, Mario cart, played around online, with out interruption! Finally decided it was time to go to bed, and that's where it got hard! We usually read a little before we go to bed, and Scotty is usually there in bed with us wiggling around and pointing things out to us, but he wasn't there! So...that's when I started crying, I told Eric I missed him, and he said "Well, do you want to go get him then?" We didn't, and he was fine, and so were we! He had a good time playing at their house.

The boys helping Nona make Valentine's Day cakes for me, my sister Roni, aunt K.Kay, and Grandma D. Scotty is on the left, Triston on the right. (grandma in Italian, my step-mom is Italian and since my grandparents are still alive there are 2 grandma & grandpa Vogan's, so we call her Nona)

I love this pic of Scotty!!

Decorating the cake for me!

Sleeping with cousin Triston. He woke up in the middle of the night and wanted the horsey's. They are sleeping above his head!

The boy's watching movies and eating Cheetos waiting for us to come back.

Our Silly Scotty!!

Scotty has been so goofy for his whole life, but these are from the last week.
This is over at my Dad's, he and my nephew Triston were playing and found the paper bowls on the table and put them on their heads. It looked like they had little yamaka's on!

This was on Sunday a while after dinner. I was eating a donut and was walking down the hall to see what he was doing and he came running around the corner and ran into me. So I play fell down with him in the hall. I still have my donut and he sees it, so he jumps up and goes into the kitchen and gets himself a donut and we tell him he can only have it if he sits in his high chair. So he said "Ok, right there." and marches down the hall to where the picture is! Then he says "I wanna watch Tee Poo." Which is Tigger and Pooh. So he sat in his chair and we put his little dvd player from the car on the counter in the kitchen and he sat there and ate his donut!

HAHA! This one is after we got home from church on Sunday. We have church from 1-4. So he doesn't get a nap unless he falls asleep in Sacrament meeting. He didn't this Sunday. So I'm in the kitchen cutting potatoes for dinner and I ask Eric to get him something to eat, so Eric goes and asks Scotty who's sitting in his Thomas chair what movie he wants to watch while he eats. Every movie Eric says Scotty says "No, I can't watch that one." So Eric gives up and says "Fine you don't get to watch a movie!" And comes into the kitchen to put one of Scotty's Little Entree's dinners in the microwave, then walked back over into the living room and Scotty was passed out like this! It was about 30 seconds between the time Eric walked from the living room into the kitchen and back into the living room!

This was on Saturday. He was just chillin' and eating Oreo's and milk while he watched his movie!
We sure do love this little guy! And are so happy he's ours!

January 2009

So, it's now February 2009, and we haven't done a single post. We haven't really been busy, and we haven't really been doing much, but the time flew by. Eric went to the navel base on Coronado Island in San Diego, for 5 days for work. His hotel was right on the beach and a golf course was on base too. So he got a couple of rounds in with a few of the guys he works with. Eric got to see 3 of the 10 air craft carriers for the U.S. He says you can't begin to believe how big they are. The older ones decks were about 4 1/2 acres, and the newer ones are about 7 or 8 acres. Scotty has been sick. I've cut a couple of friends hair. And that's really about all. Here are a couple of pics from Eric's trip to San Diego.

This is Eric teeing off at the golf course on the navel base. He says this was his worst shot the whole time he was out there!!

This is the private beach on the navel base. The beach is right out side the hotel. Eric didn't go swimming in the ocean, he said it was way too cold!

This is the hotel Eric stayed in.

This was too cute for me not to share. This is in between him being sick. Right now he's got an ear infection, and a really bad cold that is getting into his lungs. He refuses to take any medicine orally, so the nurses at his dr have to give him an antibiotic shot in his leg. He wasn't very happy about that. He's had 2 so far and we go back in Monday for the last one. But on a nicer note since he's gotten the shots he's actually slept! We were going on about 4 days with only a few hours sleep. Not fun!

Christmas & New Years

We went to Cedar as usual for Christmas. We headed down a few days early hoping to get to see some of our friends that we haven't been able to see the last few times we've been to town, but little did we know there was something else in store for us. Eric and I got strep throat, and I got tonsilitis on top of it. We were lucky Scotty didn't get it. I was miserably enough! So, sorry to our friends we didn't get to see, but we didn't want to spread it. So other than being physically miserable for about 5 days over Christmas we had a great Christmas. It was a little hard for me to not have all of my family together on Christmas. My Mom & step-dad came up here to my house so my sister Sarah wasn't alone. My brother Will & his wife Janice had their first Christmas together in their first house in Co. They didn't have Christmas together last year because Will was in Iraq. And my brother Rol and his kids stayed at his kids mom's house. So my family's side dinner on Christmas day was only my sister Shirley, her husband Kerry, Eric, me, & Scotty, & Kerry's parent's. But it was nice. We came home for 1 day for Eric to work and decided to go back to Cedar for New Years. We headed to St. George on New Years Eve to fix Eric's sister Amber's internet, and stayed there for dinner and over night. It was nice to get to visit with them. The next day "The Guys" (Eric, his dad Paul, brother's Bret & Kelly, and nephews, Colby, Micheal, & Shaun) went rabbit hunting and had a good time. We came home on Friday, to help with our dear friends Rian & Melea with the lost of their daughter Shelby. All in all we had a nice holiday with our families. We are so grateful for every single member of our families. We love all of you more than you know.

All the Irons kids chipped in and got Paul & Terry a Wii for Christmas. They were pretty surprised! We made them go to Bret's to open it, so they wouldn't have a clue!
